Private Hire Licence information
All operators, drivers and vehicles of Private Vehicle Hire Services in London are required to obtain a Private Hire Licence from the London Public Carriage Office (PCO). This is the same office that licences the world famous London Taxi Drivers and now regulates Private Hire Vehicle services in London to ensure greater safety for the travelling public. Certain requirements must be met to be granted a licence. Attaining these requirements should pose no difficulty for bona-fide and professional organisations. There is no limit to the number of Private Hire Licences issued, therefore a Private Hire Operator/Driver without a licence is illegal and subject to criminal prosecution.
